In Europe, food industry is the largest manufacturing sector and the largest industrial employer. The integration of sustainable development in food production is the main challenge being faced by the food sector in this century.
A consortium of six European Universities is developing a new Master programme called MSc Sustainable Food Systems aiming at sustainability in the food industry. We educate young professionals in the food industry with a helicopter view on the whole food chain: Our graduates are competent to initiate discussions on environmental and corporate social responsibilities. They have the skills to develop implementation strategies for sustainability aspects and to communicate in an intercultural context. Our graduates smoothen the path towards a sustainable food industry - a greener one.
Specifics: The focus is on sustainability along the whole value chain in the food sector combining the expertise of six European universities from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany and Romania. Graduates will be able to work in an international and intercultural working environment. Students will choose three out of six universities in different countries to study. Additionally, they pick different e-learning courses location-independently. These e-learning courses are also available for employees for further education.
