Writing Center

Dare to Write!

The writing center wants to encourage students of all of the university's departments to

  • use writing and reading strategies for generating new insights and critically engage with positions of other students and scholars;

  • develop the self-confidence and courage to contribute to the academic communities of their fields and become part of their ongoing conversations;

  • understand research and the overall scholarly endeavor of their field as a collaborative process in which peers give each other feedback and learn from each other;
  • experience writing as a creative process that allows for growth and enables writers to develop their own voice, and at the same time to

  • learn to better understand, direct and plan one's own writing processes.

To promote a culture of writing that both inspires students and supports them in multiple ways in reaching these goals, the writing center develops offerings for both students and instructors. In doing so, the center would also like to contribute to furthering an ongoing exchange about academic writing between students and instructors.

Need a writing consultation? Register here!

You're interested in a writing consultation? It's easy: Just fill in the online sign-up form.

Please note that you need to sign up a minimum of two weeks before your paper's due date. If you need a consultation for a thesis or other longer paper, you might have to sign up even earlier. It's often helpful to get your first feedback from a writing consultant when you're still in the initial planning and reading stage of writing your paper.

Drop-in Writing Consultations Are Back!

They're back: our drop-in writing consultation hours - starting now, until the end of exam weeks! They're the place to discuss all types of writing issues without signing up, just at a moment's notice. Open every Wednesday

  • between 2 and 5 p.m.
  • in room 005 of the learning center

This term's last date is February 24, 2016.

We can not guarantee English-language consultations during these times, though. If you need a consultation in English or for a writing project in English, we prefer that you use our online sign-up form.
